Swiss Sufficiency Lab

The Swiss Sufficiency Lab (SSL) is a national hub dedicated to advancing sufficiency as a key pillar of sustainable transformation, rethinking how we live, work, and thrive within planetary boundaries. Hosted by the Urban Energy Systems Laboratory at Empa, and part of the World Sufficiency Lab network, the SSL brings together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and citizens to make sufficiency a practical and inspiring lever for transforming our societies toward sustainability and well-being.
Through research and innovation, cross-sectoral collaboration, and international exchange, the SSL connects people and ideas to co-create sufficiency-based strategies, pilot projects, and real-world solutions. By sharing knowledge, best practices, and stories of change, the SSL aims to unleash our collective imagination, turning sufficiency from a niche concept into a shared pathway toward a thriving, equitable, low-carbon future.
